Share Holiday Pictures via the Internet

Share Holiday Pictures

Even ten years ago, to share your favorite holiday pictures with friends and relatives you would have to develop and mail them or wait until you saw these people to share your memories.  Today the Internet has become so advanced those photos taken on a trip Europe can be uploaded and shared before your vacation is even over!  This article will give the reader some tips about how to upload photos to popular picture sharing sites like Flickr and Picasa as well as other social networking and file sharing sites that can be used for the same purpose.  With today’s inexpensive and readily available technology, your Spain holiday pictures can be shared with people around the world with a click of the mouse.

Picasa from Google is a relatively new online photo-sharing site that allows users to upload Google holiday pictures, organize them into albums and share them with whoever wants to look.  Creating an account is easy by downloading Google’s free software to your computer.  Once set up is complete simply load your photos onto your computer from your camera.  Picasa provides 1 gigabyte of free storage which enough space to store about 4,000 photos.  With one click, Easter holiday pictures can be shared online through the program and you can even create albums and geo-tag your photos so your friends and family can see where they were taken.

Flickr is another popular site that provides many of the same features and functionality of Picasa. If you already have a Yahoo user ID and password you can enter them into Flickr’s site to create an account otherwise you can sign up as a new user.  Once a member, photos from your computer can be uploaded to the site and shared in seconds.  Create albums of your holiday food pictures; send photos to friends and family through private connections and view interesting photos from recent visitor uploads.  There is also a blog for members to use to talk about everything photography.  Flickr, like Picasa is also free to use.

If you want to do more than just sharing photos, social networking sites such as Facebook or MySpace are excellent sites to connect with friends, share photos and play games.  Users can upload photos from their libraries in seconds for all of their friends to see and they can create albums.  Restrictions on these types of social networking sites allow users to control who sees their photos or other information.  Unlike photo specific sites, social networking has no limit to the amount of photos that can be posted on a user’s page.

Sharing photos online has become the new standard in sharing memories with friends and family, especially if these people are far away.  Services like these are free and easy to use and pictures can be uploaded as soon as they are taken assuming users have the proper technology.  Usually most cell phones are even capable of uploading photos to a social networking or photo sharing website.
